Samsung’s latest Note 9 update allows you to activate Bixby by double-clicking a special button, Android Authority reports. Previously, you could activate the divisive voice assistant with a single tap only, which could lead to its accidental activation, especially when Samsung doesn’t offer the option to disable it completely.
Since its introduction, the Bixby button has become a controversial inclusion in Samsung phones, mainly because it pales in comparison to Google Assistant, Alexa, and, Yes, even Siri. While you could initially reassign the button on the S8 to open the camera or other apps of your choice, Samsung has since done its best to block the process; in note 9, you can’t disable the assistant at all.
In an ideal world, you’ll be able to turn off the Bixby button completely (or just reassign it to something more useful), but for now, double-tapping seems like the next best thing. If you’re lucky, the functionality of the button will turn To a rarely used appendage and not an unwanted irritation.
